ARB are a great company headed by Adrian Barker who was Head of Retail at Sense for many years before taking the brave step of starting his own recycling and re use company.
ARB service quite a number of Age UK shops and have done for some time, their prices are pleasingly above median market rates and their service at shop level is exemplary. The ARB drivers are very well presented and courteous towards shop staff and Volunteers and they always pay at the time and point of collection, which in the current market turmoil is very much appreciated.
To illustrate the service point recently at very short notice ARB bailed us out of a sticky situation and took on servicing the Isle of Wight shops as we parted company with the previous provider due to the constant price reductions they wished to impose and the final ultimatum by them of take the price or leave it, we left it! At that point ARB, despite then having no other customers on the Island, stepped in, for which we are hugely grateful.

Having been in this sector for over 12 years now, I have come across and used many Textiles Recyclers within the Charities I have worked for and managed and I have to say and in my personal opinion in this sector ARB recycling are the best at what they do. A lot of this is down to the fact that the owner, Adrian Barker has worked in this sector on the Retail side for many years in a Senior position. This gives Adrian a unique insight into the Charity Retailing sector and one in which he understands the needs of our charity much more succinctly than other textile recyclers. ARB Provide a recycling partner rather than a “rag” merchant, their customer service is first class and they do want they say they are going to do with professionalism.
